Scholarship Announcement
Folk and devotional music is a major part of South Asian heritage. Houston is home to amazing teachers who can pass on these traditions. The LEARN FOLK MUSIC scholarship comes with a $2000 stipend for the student. It is designed to facilitate the learning of a folk and devotional music tradition that has its roots in South Asia.
Deadline to apply is 5pm CST on February 15, 2022. No late applications will be accepted.
Eligibility Guidelines for the Scholarship
High school or college student in Texas
Prior experience learning (eastern) classical music
Evidence of public performance (in the last 3 years)
Awardee Requirements
Learn a folk tradition from a Houston-based teacher between March 1, 2022 and December 31, 2022.
Perform folk music once between March 1, 2022 and December 31, 2022, in a public setting.
